At Hillel, we specialize in K-8 education. The foundation for life-long learning is built in the elementary and middle school years, and we devote all of our resources to serving children during these formative years. We believe this better prepares them for high school and beyond.
The K-8 environment allows students to develop at their individual, age-appropriate pace. Our entire academic program, including the experiential components integrated throughout, is designed for children in this age range, without overexposure to the very different academic and social pressures on high school students. Our students are able to develop their skills and build their self-esteem in a safe and supportive environment.
In our K-8 school, the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are not caught in the middle. They are given more responsibility and leadership opportunity, which helps them prepare for similar opportunities in high school and college. The result is greater self-esteem, pride in their school, and a sense of belonging.
Eighth graders are empowered as our “seniors.” They make up our student council executive board, they run many of our Shabbat and holiday programs, and they are role models for the rest of the school. Our graduates have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their high schools as well.
